The Hotel de France is a grand corner hotel, built in 1872 and situated in the centre of Vienna, 500 meters from the Kinsky Palace and Sigmund Freud Museum. The 208 air-conditioned guestrooms have traditional Viennese style décor and furnishings in soft yellow, white and blue with white wicker chairs and patterned bedspreads. All guestrooms include minibars, direct-dial phones, safes, trouser presses, Internet connections and satellite television.
Guests have a choice of three restaurants: the Bistro is a large, airy dining room with white décor, columns and a mezzanine floor where guests can enjoy a buffet breakfast in the morning or a light snack, healthy salad or Viennese pastry during the day or in the evening; in the Restaurant Bel Etage guests can sample Austrian and French cuisine in a small intimate restaurant with décor in white and lemon; in the Sushi Bar Daihachi, Japanese Sushi dishes are served in a traditional manner, with Teppanyaki dishes prepared in front of diners. Before or after a meal, guests can relax with a drink in the smart Atrium bar, alternatively room service is available. For business clients, the hotel has eight air-conditioned conference or banqueting rooms. Guests can also watch a film in the foreign language cinema, book tickets in the travel and theatre ticket office or ask the concierge for information on local attractions. The Church of Our Lady of the Scots, Scottish Abbey, Freyung Square and Old Jewish Quarter can all be found within 500 meters. Vienna International Airport is approximately 27 kilometres and a 30 minute drive from the hotel. S-Bahn overground trains runs at least every 30 minutes connecting the airport to the city centre and U-Bahn. Buses depart from the airport to the City Air Terminal every 20 minutes. Other buses go to Südbahnhof and Westbahnhof railway stations and also to Bratislava and Budapest. Taxis are available outside the arrivals hall.
